If You Don’t Stop That
by Hafiz
————–

I used to live in
A cramped house with confusion
And pain.

But then I met the Friend
And started getting drunk
And singing all
Night.

Confusion and pain
Started acting nasty,
Making threats,
With talk like this,

“If you don’t stop ‘that’ -
All that fun -

We’re
Leaving.”

(“The Gift” – versions of Hafiz by Daniel Ladinsky)

What about focusing on what feels goooood? The sweet spot. What about pleasure?

Perhaps there is a momentary balance to the deep work of seeing and accepting that I’ve been in.

Today I want to get drunk on joy and Divinity. I want to sing. Enjoying. Fascinated.

Confusion and pain can make their nasty threats and come back another day.

What about you? You drunk on life today?

I’m glad you posted this passage on your blog – you read it in class the other day, but I didn’t really catch it’s meaning at the time. :-)
